Terms
These terms are an agreement between you and Kin (“Kin”, “we”) for using learnwithkin.com and the Kin app. By creating an account or using Kin, you agree to them. Our privacy policy explains how we handle your information.
Your account
You need to be at least 16 to use Kin. Give accurate details, keep your password to yourself, and tell us at [email protected] if you think someone else has used your account. You're responsible for what happens under your account.
Membership, trial and billing
- Getting started, finding your level and your first story are free. After that, Kin is a paid membership, monthly or yearly, at the price shown before you pay.
- New members get a 7-day free trial. Unless you cancel before it ends, your membership starts and your card is charged; we remind you before that happens.
- Memberships renew automatically at the end of each period until cancelled. You can cancel any time in Settings; you keep access until the end of the period you've paid for.
- Payments are processed by Stripe, which sells the membership to you as the seller of record and handles sales tax and VAT. Stripe’s terms also apply to your purchase.
- Except where the law requires otherwise, payments aren’t refundable, including for partly used periods. If something has gone wrong, write to [email protected] and we’ll make it right where we reasonably can.
- If we change the price, we’ll tell you in advance, and the new price applies from your next renewal. Discount codes apply as described when you use them.
Stories and other content
Kin’s stories, explanations and audio are written with the help of AI, often from news reporting, which we credit and link. We work to make them accurate and right for your level, but they can contain mistakes, and they aren’t a source of news, legal, medical or other professional advice. Photos and articles belong to their owners and are shown with credit for the purpose of learning.
Kin, its design and its software belong to us. We give you a personal, non-transferable permission to use Kin for your own learning while your account is in good standing.
Fair use
Please don’t:
- share your account, or resell or redistribute Kin or its content;
- scrape, copy at scale, or use Kin’s content to train other AI systems;
- try to break, overload or get around Kin’s security or limits;
- use Kin for anything unlawful or to harm others.
We may limit or suspend accounts that do, and close them in serious or repeated cases.
Ending
You can stop using Kin and cancel at any time, and ask us to delete your account. We may stop offering Kin or part of it; if we end a paid membership for reasons other than a breach of these terms, we’ll refund the unused part of the period.
Disclaimers and liability
Kin is provided “as is”. We can’t promise it will always be available, error-free, or that you’ll reach a particular level by a particular date; the plans and estimates in Kin are estimates. To the extent the law allows, we aren’t liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability to you is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer law that can’t be waived.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as Kin changes. If a change matters, we’ll update the date above and tell members in advance; continuing to use Kin after that means you accept the new terms.
Law and contact
These terms are governed by the law that applies where Kin's operator is established, except where the consumer law of the place you live says otherwise. Questions about them go to [email protected].
